Fil-3 obtains the European Flax® certification: a guarantee of sustainability and traceability

We are pleased to announce that Fil-3 has received the European Flax® certification, a prestigious recognition that certifies the origin and traceability of the flax fibers used for textile production. The official confirmation arrived today and represents an important milestone for our company and our commitment to sustainability.

But what exactly does the European Flax® certification consist of?

European Flax®: a standard of excellence for flax fibers
The European Flax® certification guarantees that the flax fibers used come exclusively from European crops managed according to rigorous criteria. These criteria include:

  • No artificial irrigation, as certified at 99.9% by CELC (European Flax and Hemp Confederation).
  • Absence of GMOs, to protect the naturalness of the cultivation.
  • Rotation of crops, which favors soil health and biodiversity.
  • Reduced use of fertilizers and pesticides, for minimal environmental impact.
  • Natural maceration in the field, a process that uses natural conditions to separate the fibers.
  • Carbon sink effect: flax crops retain approximately 400,000 tons of CO₂ every year, contributing to the fight against climate change.
  • No waste: the entire plant is used, from textile fibers to by-products such as seeds and dust.
  • Fully mechanical fiber extraction (scutching), without the use of harmful chemical processes.

Sustainability and human rights: the heart of the certification

Certification is not limited to environmental aspects. Each stage of the production chain respects the standards defined by the International Labor Organization (ILO), ensuring ethical and dignified working conditions.

Traceability and rigorous checks

Traceability is guaranteed by annual audits conducted by the certification body Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC). In addition, the composition of the fabrics is verified through specific tests in accredited laboratories, to offer customers maximum transparency.

This certification is not just an acknowledgement: it is a guarantee for consumers and a concrete commitment towards a more sustainable future.
