Giacinto Gelli, Commercial Director of Fil3, during an interview with “la Spola” tells us about the organization of FILO Milan. No kind of adaptations: “previews penalize us.”
But there’s more. The launch of an idea “a bit provocative”, but valuable, and points of view that want to confirm the ideals of transparency and quality of the company.
Interview on La Spola.
Filo is near, and one of the historical tuscan exhibitor, Giacinto Gelli, sends clear indications to the show organizers and to the coworers: no to extreme anticipations, color folders with (symbolic) fee, and, maybe a traveling exhibit…
Let’s start with the nearest deadline, Filo, on Wednesday and Thursday.
“I reiterate my opposition to anticipate so much the exhibitions, as communicated to the organizers. The specialists are still working on winter collection, and arrived at Filo, they have no precise idea of what they want. The fair has also to be an exchange between proponents and acquirers, but that way is too soon; summer season starts in September. Imagination needs more time, thus we can just show our color charts, groping in the dark and waiting for choices.
Especially since the color charts are given away, despite the huge cost.
True, for us as for other companies, even the most important. It’s a lost of tens of thousands Euros. For this reason, I suggest a bit provocative idea: let’s pay a symbolic price, as 5 €, each folder; so, to have them, buyers will understand the values and work behind. But it has to be a shared choice, realized by everyone, otherwise we’ll leave the field to those who gives away.
From many sides has been mentioned the possibility of making an itinerant Filo. As well as the presentation of the exhibition is conveyed in different districts, so even the fair should be carried around.
It might be an idea, even if each district has its best moments to present the collections. Milano, compared to Biella, is well reachable, even for foreigners; but think about northern places, between Carpi and Veneto, maybe; they could give further strength to Filo, which has been improved anyway in the last editions.
The other important topic concerns the Fabric Fairs Dates. Milano Unica seems to go straight to July, abandoning September.
As a spinner, I am not approving the idea of creating a single fair in July. It would be fine for pre-collections, but not for the whole ones.
How does Fil-3 enter this FILO edition?
With a collection based on weaving, circular linen and mixed-linen fabrics. Our 2016 is going in accordance with 2015, and we hope that Milan could give us the right incentive to close the year in the best way.
